Manhole in Japan

J

If you ever pass cute manhole (top opening to an underground utility vault) in Japan, you will notice that it has different pictures for each district. As you could see above is the one that I found in Kawaguchiko Lake nearby Mount Fuji. It is not always as colorful as that one though. Sometimes it only has plain grey (iron alike) color.

One thing that you should carefully put your attention in is in its picture. Every district usually put their signature symbol in their manhole. The Kawaguchiko Lake is located nearby Mount Fuji. No wonder you will see Mount Fuji in its design since Kawaguchiko Lake is one of famous spot to enjoying Mount Fuji scenery. The picture above also represent signature scenery you will see in the Kawaguchiko Lake. Mount Fuji with its reflection in the lake’s water (best viewed during a clear weather without any clouds).

If you have a chance to visit Japan, do not forget to put attention to your surroundings. I believe it will be an extraordinary experiences during your trip. Oh not forget to mention some people collect the manhole’s photos as their hobby. So why not collect some while you visit Japan 🙂
